Thursday Night SanShou 11/29/2018

Tonight I am going to take a break from working forms, also known as taolu, to work more on the fighting side. For San Shou, many fighters chose the South paw stance rather than the Orthodox method of fighting.

Try the following workout:

Jump forward and back for 1 min

Lunging jab and back 1 min

Lunging jab, cross, back 1 min

Jab, cross, leg kick 1 min

Jab, cross, round house 1 min
Round house, front thrust, 1 min
Leg kick, jab, cross 1 min
Leg kick, high round house, 1 min
Jab, cross, jab, jab, 1 min

Jab, spinning rear thrust kick

Jab, cross, hook, uppercut
Hook, cross, hook

Tonight I am going to work Gun Shu which is a based on Northern Wushu movements for the staff. It is important to know your basic strikes and stances to advance in Gun Shu. Try the following workout:

Tonight I will be working some southern Wushu also known as Nan Quan.
Tonight’s workout:
1 minute plank
20 crunches
Front stretch kick
Side stretch kick
Rear stretch kick
Cresent kick
Reverse crescent kick
Horse stance:

Single punch 10x
Double punch 10x
Triple punch 10x
Nan Quan combo 1
10x
Horse stance 1 minute

Tuesday workout

Today is leg day! Do 5 sets of the following starting with light weight and increase on each set!
Dumbbell Squats
Step ups with dumbbell
Leg press
Squats
Leg curls
With resistance bands:
Front stretch kick
Side stretch kick
Cresent kick
Reverse cresent kick

Monday Night Wushu 11/26/2018

Tonight’s workout is based on Chan Quan which is the northern Wushu side. Try the workout and see what you think:
Run in place 5 minutes
20 Push ups
20 Crunches
Rising Front Kick 10x
Side Rising Kick 10x
Cresent Kick 10x
Reverse Cresent Kick 10x
Horse stance 30 seconds

 

Left forward Bow Stance 30 seconds
